(More customer reviews)I purchased this product from another company, but in retrospect, I should have purchased it from Amazon since I imagine a return to Amazon will be a lot easier.
I have a 2007 Honda Accord. I researched products like this for a while since I have a Garmin GPS that has a bluetooth receiver and plays mp3s that I wanted to be "hardwired" to the car.
I purchased the HON/AUX DMX V.2X and took apart my Honda to insert it. It's nice in that is preserves your ability to continue to use XM if you subscribe to it. (I don't, but like to continue to have the option.) After starting up the car, I switched to the CD Changer mode and I was enjoying music from my Garmin and using it as a Bluetooth receiver through my car's stereo speakers.
That's the good. Now, the bad.
Randomly, after starting my car, it was almost like the device wasn't recognized. I would cycle though the stereo modes, and it would skip the CDC mode as if nothing was connected. Turning off the ignition and restarting would solve the problem. Rarely, it wouldn't. I tried all permutations: turning off the device before the car was turned off; turning the radio off before the device and vice versa; etc.
Finally, I emailed one of the guys at Blitzsafe's tech support and joined their forum. It took quite a long time to receive a reply from them, and when I did, I received ridiculous emails with one liners like "What car do you have?" "What stereo type?" "What year is your car?" All the suggestions I was given didn't help. All the way up to removing the radio fuses and resetting the radio.
Then I became more active on the support forum. It appears that on this forum, as well as elsewhere, people are having this problem with their Blitzsafe products. The forum moderator suggested it was Honda's problem that the device wasn't working. He even suggested I go to Honda for a replacement radio. When I suggested that their product had a flaw and wanted an RMA, they went ballistic on the forum. Blitzsafe even suggested that their product was flawless and since they don't get calls 24/7, that people aren't having issues with their Blitzsafe devices. They went on to further state that there is a known issue with *some* Honda radios. They couldn't tell me which Honda radios, just some. Please note, there is no disclaimer on their website or in the product "manual" (i.e., piece of paper), that the device may not work with all Honda radios. I find that a bit sleezy to sell a product that they know has compatibility issues but not inform the buyer of at least the possibility.
When I rebuttled in a very civilized and critical manner, they deleted all my posts and kicked me off the forum. How's that for quelling the opposition?
Anyway, I'm sure many people are enjoying their Blitzsafe device. Now that the device is plugged in and I have to keep restarting my car, I will most likely convince myself that the wear and tear on a $25,000 car is not worth a $87 aftermarket device and a $400 Garmin. I'll probably investigate another product at this point. After all, taking apart my car was kind of fun...kind of.
I only wish my research had revealed some of these problems and practices. I probably would have gone with another product.
