When XM/Sirius went from a paid model to paid-plus-advertisements, I decided to terminate their employment with my Acura. Because it's a 2005 model year, the OEM iPod dock was not available, making my choices slim: AM/FM tuner, tape deck, or this.
You get exactly what's pictured, and that's exactly what you need. In most cases, you need to plug this directly into the rear of the entertainment unit, which means you're going to have to tear apart most of your center console and dash. It is not an install to perform on your own if you're not familiar with tools or have no Band-Aids on hand, because you're going to tear both the car and your hands to shreds. That said, the install went relatively well. Make absolutely sure you choose your operation mode via DIP switch *prior* to connecting any power leads. If you change your mind like I did, you can't just flip the switch: support will tell you that you need to disconnect power entirely and wait some time for the device to completely discharge. That misstep cost me dearly as I had buttoned up the dashboard and head unit when I decided I'd prefer to have it in "CD changer emulation" instead of "replace XM functionality"
For my particular installation, I pulled constant power with ground from the right side of the vehicle behind the glove box, and secondary switched power from the space above the moonroof controls. Both are probably the easiest positions available after considerable searching and teardown of the interior. Skip the fuse tap blades and add-a-fuse stuff and just do butt splices or similar, but make sure you heat shrink or otherwise seal each connection very well to avoid corrosion. Unless, of course, you want to troubleshoot your electrical later on.
The sound output is far superior to tape deck shenanigans and naturally head and shoulders above anything you'd get from a radio tuner device. Since I routed the connector cable to the glove box, the iPod is kept neatly out of sight with the bonus that all my iPod and iPhone toting friends can jack their device in to play guest DJ, or just leech a recharge.
