(More customer reviews)Surprisingly well made cassette adapter for the price. Produces a clean, flat sound which is what I wanted. Some cassette adapters tend to juice the bass to make it more "boomin" or the treble to make it sound "brighter," but in reality they're sacrificing precision and details from the incoming signal. I'd rather have it be flat/neutral and allow me to control how the output sounds via my car's equalizer.
There are 2 screw that can be turned with a coin to remove part of the cover if you need to re-position where the wire comes out (middle or ends). I also like that there is a little notch where the wire leaves the cassette part so that when the cassette enters the deck, the wire doesn't get squished. The 3.5mm plug is also L-shaped.
I have not experienced any squeaks or rattling noises from the moving gears, nor interference or static through the adapter. Output level is on par with other adapters I've tried.
Overall, this adapter is proof that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get something that sounds great. (BTW, I use this to connect an iPod in my Mercedes.)
3/29/06 UPDATE: After an hour or two of continuous use, it starts to make rattling noises from the moving gears, which can be annoying. It may be caused by heat from the cassette player. Downgrade to 2 stars (amazon won't let me change the star rating).
