Many of the cheap ones on the market don't have any protection to keep your iPod from overcharging, heating up and burning out. And guess what, if you over charge and burn out your iPod, the warranty is void. This charger is a little more expensive than most but it won't overcharge. It's a very well made unit and folds flat for easy packing. I've used Monster products before and their products are a good measure of the age old adage; "You get what you pay for".
