(More customer reviews)once i plugged it in it started hissing and getting hot. being the DIY kinda guy i am, i decided to open it up and see if i could figure it out myself. the male end that plugs into the wall FELL OUT! it was not connected and was arcing and burning the plastic! this thing is a fire hazard, i cant believe someone would make such a product.... their website is a joke too, good luck getting help or a real person on the phone. keep looking, this aint the one for you.

Duracell 813-0281-07 100 Watt DC to AC Pocket Power Inverter Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this unit because it has a cord on the 12 volt end so that it can be plugged into our tightly quartered cigarette lighter outlet. It also meets my power needs. Be aware, this is really only an 80 watt unit that handles 100 watts for no more than a couple of minutes. At 80 watts it will draw about 6 to 7 amps from the lighter, or accessory outlet so be sure the outlet can handle it. Our new car has three such outlets but only the lighter outlet is really up to the task (15 amps or about 15A * 14V = 210 watts). The others are fine for devices that draw only a little power like a GPS, cell phone, MP3 player, etc.
The unit has a small fan inside that comes on when the electronics inside get too warm. Be sure not to block the vent slots in the case, especially the circular ones on the bottom since this is the only intake for the fan. I don't find the fan too loud, being just barely perceptible when it comes on while I'm driving. Mine feels solid, well made, is simple to use and does what it's suppose to.

Please don't buy, it's a junk of no use, because it has an amperage of 500ma, which is a minimum to charge your cellphone. Nothing else will work.

(More customer reviews)the product description says "Up to 800mA" but the product and packaging only says 500mA so don't count on it for more than 500mA. I bought it for a small Craftsman air inflator unit, hoping it would work with it. No such luck, but that's my fault. (I tried to find the mA requirements on the inflator before ordering, but no info so I guessed wrong). The unit itself is well built with an indicator LED. Not sure what I can use it for now, but whatever it is, it'll have to have VERY low amperage requirements.
