Cassette Adapter - White Review

Cassette Adapter - White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Originally I wanted to purchase a Sony cassette adapter for my IPod mini, but the local Target store had them priced at $29.00. The Belkin adapter was cheaper so I bought it instead - BIG MISTAKE !! I think the first indication as to how bad this product really was happened when my car cassette player literally spit it out and shot it across the passenger cabin in my car. Was my cassette player trying to tell me something ? I think so ! The adapter was reinsterted into the cassette player multiple times before it finally found the exact perfect fit to produce quality sound. I eventually purchased a Phillips cassette adapter for my iPod mini, and it works as intended. Shame on you Belkin for making and selling such a poor piece of equipment.

Black Cassette Tape Adapter for any CD, iPod or MP3 Player Review

Black Cassette Tape Adapter for any CD, iPod or MP3 Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this item as a cheap solution to connect my mp3 player to my car's stereo through it's cassette player. I figured that I would give this solution a try using this very low cost item. In theory, it worked. The mp3 player could play its music through the adapter. However, this adapter made for horrible sound quality (e.g. garbled sound) and its cheap construction is evident just by looking at it. It's not even worth the $2 (pluse S&H) that I paid for it. At least it proved the theory. It's in my garbage can and I'm now ordering an adapter from a better brand of electronics. Hopefully, the next one will work out better!

Monster Cable iCarPlay iPod Cassette Adapter (AI CAS-ADPT) Review

Monster Cable iCarPlay iPod Cassette Adapter (AI CAS-ADPT)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this item recently along with a Panasonic CD/MP3 player. If you've never heard of Monster, Ill tell you that monster is well known to audiophiles everywhere. The folks at monster are truely obsessed with making the highest possible quality cables, adapters and so on. Some would even say they go overboard. I've always gone to monster when I wanted the best video signal transfer or the best possible sound.
Because of Monster's reputation in the audio industry I of course assumed that the more expensive Monster Cassette adapter would be of higher quality and produce better sound and less noise than the cheap one included with the panasonic player I bought. I was wrong. Very wrong. This adapter performed terribley in comparison to the cheap included one, producing horrible sound distortion. It didnt just do a poor job, it actually RUINED the sound. You should also note that the other adapter worked perfectly.
The details for this adapter fail to really say whether this item is made specifically for use with just the Ipod or whether it can be used as a general purpose cassete adapter that just happenes to have the Ipod branding and logo on it. I assumed it was just being marketed towards Ipod owners, but I wonder if it may somehow be technically tweaked, performance-wise, for use with the ipod? That doesnt seem likely as a minijack port is a minijack port and analog stereo sound coming out of a minijack on an ipod couldnt be any different than that coming from a sony discman or the back of a PC... it's a standard audio output. But maybe Monster optimized certain frequencies based on thier knowledge of the MP3 codec and or the ipod to enhance sound output which caused my experience??? This doesn't seem likely... and what's more if it is the case it's absurd... That'd be like RCA making an RCA adapter designed only to work with RCA VCRs even though the outputs and signals are compatible across the board. And besides, if it were the case, there shouldbe something sayin so dont you think?
No, I think this is just a poor product release. Monster should be ashamed. The signal to noise ratio and the frequency response specs arent even listed on this page OR on the package! (which I thought were requiered by FTC regulation) is missing.
Even if you're an ipod owner, I would try this out before buying it. Otherwise save some money and buy a cheaper one from sony or panasonic... or any other brand for that matter.

Universal Car Audio Cassette Adapter, Black Review

Universal Car Audio Cassette Adapter, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wasn't sure what to expect from this no-name brand cassette adapter but was pleased to find it worked well with my car tape deck stereo. I wanted to pipe music from the mp3 files in my LG enV3 cell phone through my car speakers. At first try, there was a noticeable hissing sound and the volume was quite suppressed. I ejected the cassette and pushed it back in to try again. This time, the volume level was corrected and the hissing noise went away. The sound quality is very good.
I realized the initial problem was due to not having used my tape deck in a quite a while. The contacts must have been very dirty! Anyway, I highly recommend this item. Great price and prompt shipping from Eforcity.

CAR STEREO CASSETTE ADAPTER FOR IPOD/MP3/CD PLAYER Review

CAR STEREO CASSETTE ADAPTER FOR IPOD/MP3/CD PLAYER
Average Reviews:

I bought this unit because I needed to hook up my MP3 player to my car stereo. It plays music from the IPod, but the problem is that when you put it in the cassette deck, right away it starts making noise like it's trying to rewind the cassette. The noise doesn't stop and it's so loud that even when the radio cranked up all the way, you can still hear awful screeching noise. I found one at Menards (home improvement store) for $10 made by Phillips and it works just fine.

Cassette Adapter Review

Cassette Adapter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Both cars that I use have a tape player and CD changers. For a long time, because we could play CDs in the cars, we didn't need any kind of adapter. However, now in the age of iPods and other MP3 players, adapters have come back with a vengeance. There is no lack of options out there for adapters. With all the different types of music players available, I wanted an adapter that would not only work with my current iPod, but any future versions that I might buy, not to mention friends and family who might be carrying a completely different model.
So, in the interest of simplicity, I decided to go "old school" and try the Cassette Adapter first. The main reason was because it will work with any MP3 player (unless of course it doesn't have a headphone jack and that's just crazy talk).
I also didn't want to spend much because I figured there couldn't be much difference between one that costs $10 and another that is twice as much or more. And if the cheaper one really was garbage, I wouldn't be out much.
I have to say that I am very happy with this product. It works just as I expected. Because it is using a tape head, you can expect some hiss on different tape players. The way to avoid that is to turn down the car stereo volume a bit and use the volume on the MP3 player instead. It might take a bit of fiddling to find the right combination but it wasn't hard to figure out. Now I have no problems with tape hiss and it sounds great. Of course, I have an average stereo system in the cars. Someone who has upgraded to bigger and better speakers/amp/etc. might notice more hiss but I sure don't.
The only downside with this or any other cassette adapter is you are limited to using it in cars that still have a cassette player. But that has nothing to do with how much you paid or the quality of the adapter.

Walkman Car Connecting Pack for MD Walkman and CD Walkman (Model# CPA-9C) Review

Walkman Car Connecting Pack for MD Walkman and CD Walkman (Model# CPA-9C)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I originally purchased this cassette adapter to listen to CD's in my Neon which did not have a CD player. This served its purpose well- great sound quality, the cassette was not loud in the cassette deck as a previous one had been, and I was finally able to listen to CD's in my car during the commute.
Eight months ago, I traded in the Neon for a Jetta which had both a CD and cassette player, so the cassette adapter wound up collecting dust along with my old cell phone and other assorted items in my electronics graveyard. But this week I purchased an iPod, and I also got an iRock FM transmitter to listen to my MP3's at work and during the commute. Unfortunately that is not the best product in the world. I contemplated exchanging the iRock for a Belkin FM transmitter, when it was suggested to me that I try a car cassette adapter. I dug through the electronics graveyard, and almost thought I had thrown this out when I found it. I plugged it into the headphone jack of the iPod, then played the cassette on my stereo. The sound quality is excellent on this as well.
This is an excellent product if you have a car with only a cassette player, and want to listen to CDs, or if you have an iPod and want to listen to MP3's cheaply and easily.
A piece of advice, though for those who need the adapter for their CD player: you may want to opt instead for an actual car pack, which has a cigarette lighter adapter for the CD player, otherwise you'll be burning through the batteries like crazy.

The Sony CPA-9C cassette adaptor allows you to connect your minidisc or CD player to a vehicle cassette player. While this Sony product works best with Sony CD and MD players, the adaptor will operate with non-Sony products as well. There are a couple of key features to this adaptor which make it a fine choice. The first notable feature is the spring-loaded head. The head will automatically adjust itself to your vehicle's cassette deck, ensuring that the two heads have optimum contact and transfer the best possible sound. The second key feature is the silent mechanism. A silent mechanism yields less operational noise and a better quality MD or CD sound. This adaptor works with all cassette players which require you to insert the tape opening facing the side. The mini-plug inserts into a portable CD or MD headphone jack. The cassette adaptor is a cheap way to make your vehicle CD and MD operational.

Car Audio Tape Cassette Adapter for MP3 Players Review

Car Audio Tape Cassette Adapter for MP3 Players

I bought this piece of junk thinking i would try my luck since it was only 5 bucks. Well, now i know, i should stick to the casino's if i wanna try my luck. The tape was reversing from side A to B continuosly. So, following the instructions of another user, i opened the tape and took out the black wheel next to the cassette head. That stopped the reversing, but the volume was so low you could barely hear it even after turning up the Ipod's and the Stereo's volume. I have a 30 GB Video Ipod and a Volkswagen Passat Factory installed Monsoon audio system. Do NOT buy this piece of junk, keep looking. I heard the Sony cassette adapter is good, so i'm gonna try that next. Good luck...

Griffin Direct Deck Universal Cassette Adapter for MP3 Players (Black) Review

Griffin Direct Deck Universal Cassette Adapter for MP3 Players (Black)

I picked this up at Walmart for fairly cheap since my original cassette adapter was starting to break down. I was impressed at how quiet it was in the tape deck but then when I started listening to music, I noticed that everything sounded distorted. It has to do with the resistor values in the adapter, so I am going to swap out the resistors with the ones from my old tape deck and hopefully that should fix the distortion problem. I would recommend looking for a better tape adapter.

Bargaincell Cassette Player Adapter for iPods and MP3 Players Review

Bargaincell Cassette Player Adapter for iPods and MP3 Players
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For those of us with older cars that don't come equiped with an iPod dock, this is the next best thing. I read reviews of iPod FM adapters that broadcast the music on the iPod to an FM station on your car radio. Every review I read for these products - which cost $70-$90 complained of poor reliability and the difficulty of finding a spot on the FM wavelength to receive the signal as on drove around the country.
This gadget has a plug that goes into the earphone jack, and a casette tape that goes in your tape deck. The iPod's music goes through your car's stereo system which is awesome if you have a good system in your car.
This is inexpensive, simple to use, and pretty reliable.
When using this for the first time, I had a moment of panic, because "this side up" on the tape meant putting the end with the line to the earphone jack in the tape deck; this of course did not fit. I then noticed a groove in the top of the casette. I was able to get the line into the groove and run across the top of the casette so it fit in the tape deck and came out to attach to the earphone jack. This wasn't explained in the instructions for the adapter and might frustrate someone unfamiliar with the adaptors. So now you know!

Car Audio Adapter For Shuffle Nano Video Touch Ipod iPhone 3G 3GS Apple iPod Sony MP3 Zune CD To Cassette Car Tape Deck Review

Car Audio Adapter For Shuffle Nano Video Touch Ipod iPhone 3G 3GS Apple iPod Sony MP3 Zune CD To Cassette Car Tape Deck

I purchased this product hoping that I would be getting a good deal (as one of the reviewers stated), but (as one of the other reviewers stated) you get what you pay for. This adapter is one of the worst products I have ever used in my life. The item description uses many top-notch brand names and product names to increase its visibility and appeal. However, the maker of the product is a low-end, non-recognizable company called "Merkury", and is packaged with a "Jimmy Johnson" endorsement and "Lowe's" logo on it. Notice that the first of the product images has been photoshopped to omit these details. Additionally, the shipping packaging was so cheap, that it looks like someone bought these at a local store that was trying to dump them at a low price.
In addition to the "false advertising", the quality of sound it produces in the car is simply awful, even though the sound system in my car has produced quite good sound with other cassette adapters. The music comes out with a discomforting high-end screeching, while the lower frequencies do not come out at all. I bought two of these, hoping to use one in each of my cars, and both of them are equally awful. Do NOT waste your money or time on this product. Do NOT believe the two five-star reviews given for this product. There is no way that this product could ever be anything close to a 5-star product.

eForCity Black Universal All Channel FM (Broadcast) Transmitter great Compatible With Apple Ipod Nano, Photo,Video Mp3 players, PDA, CD (portable) DVD, any device with 3.5mm
Average Reviews:

After much, and I mean MUCH, reviewing of FM transmitters for my Sansa I decided on Eforcity because of the price and features. What I see as a necessity in an FM transmitter is this: First, the ability to choose any station - a must especially if you live in the city so you can choose a station that is not being used. Some of the other more expensive transmitters gave you the option of only choosing 6 frequencies. If they're occupied or even slightly occupied you will not get a very clear signal and your FM transmitter will have to compete with that signal already being broadcast. This model has the ability to search up or down to find a frequency that works best. Second, multiple power sources - This model came with both a car power adapter and will also run on one AAA battery. What I like about this is that I can broadcast my mp3 signal over any digital radio anywhere. This comes in handy at home or when I'm at a friend's house and want them to listen to a cool new song on my mp3 player. It has a pretty decent range also. I tried it at home from about 20 feet away from the radio and had no problems. What's cool about this is that you could have a radio tuned to your frequency in different rooms and walk around your house and hear your music from your mp3 player. Yeah, I know I'm getting off track. Anyway, it's a great find at a great price. I didn't have any problems with Eforcity either. It took about a week and a half to ship however. But worth the wait.

This exact Belkin replaces a generic purchased elsewhere (cord frayed at MP3 connector). I have an older vehicle (2001) that does not have an MP3 jack, like many (if not most) new cars have. I use this for my Sansa Fuze and my Slacker radio, without any problems. Although a bit most costly than generics or other brands, Belkin is a name I trust. Mine had a regular sticker price of $19.99 (same on the Belkin website as well as others-where did Amazon come up with that list price?) but I purchased for $12 locally (on sale plus 30% off).

Car Cassette Adapter For MP3,iPod,XM,CD,MD,Sirius Review

Car Cassette Adapter For MP3,iPod,XM,CD,MD,Sirius
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What I wanted was to use an FM transmitter to pipe my iPod and my Sirius radio. Unfortunately I live in a big city (Phoenix, AZ) and in my route to work the radio stations change just enough that I cannot find any FM stations to transmit on without interference. I have a 2002 Porsche Boxster S and for whatever reason, Porsche put a tape deck in that model stereo. I bought this tape adapter and presto no more FM transmitter! I had to make the modification mentioned in a review for "Coby CA-747 Dual Position CD/MD/MP3 Cassette Adapter" to bypass the automatic tape flip feature. (It seems to be fairly common for people to have to do this with tape adapters.) The Porsche unit has a door that flips open and closed to access the tape deck. This door must be closed for the unit to play. I had to carefully feed the tape adapter cord through the face plate in a place where it did not pinch it upon closing the door. This turns out to be the middle top of the face plate.
This tape adapter unit works like a charm. I've only had it for a week but I already love it. One thing I noticed in using a tape adapter with the ipod is that the sound quality improves if I only turn the ipod volume up to 50% and use the stereo volume for the rest of the sound. I plug this adapter unit directly into the iPod. I don't notice any static or distortion now that I balanced the iPod volume.
