I've had aftermarket direct connect units for kenwood, FM transmitters, cassette units, and have installed the USA spec in my gf's car. I can tell you that if you are considering this and it fits your vehicle...stop thinking and BUY IT. Amazing...follow directions and it almost seems the ipod came with the car. Text...controllability...ease of use...amazing...really. Enjoy!

Peripheral ISGM73 GM iPod Interface Kit Review

Peripheral ISGM73 GM iPod Interface Kit

The Peripheral ipod interface allows you to control your ipod with the ipod, while hooked up to your factory stereo. You can move from one track to the next through the stereo but thats about it. You can however control everything through the ipod on the ipod itself. That was what I wanted since a factory radio doesn't have enough control over an ipod anyways. Most other brands completely shut the ipod contols off and your only able to contol the ipod through the radio with very little control, which makes it impossible to search for music unless you unplug it and find what you want then plug it back in. The box or interface unit is much smaller than other brands which makes it easier to find a place to install it with the limited space in a newer vehicles dash. The ipod cord is much longer than other units as well (12 feet), giving you more options in your vehicle to place your ipod.

Axxess GMOS-01 02-Up Onstar Harness Adapter with Chime Review

Axxess GMOS-01 02-Up Onstar Harness Adapter with Chime
Average Reviews:

I purchased this adapter to install an aftermarket radio into my 2004 GMC Envoy. It was very easy to install and works as described. The "chime" that it replaces the factory chime with is a bit awkward sounding at first, but it isn't all that bad.
Just incase you're not entirely sure what this does... In some vehicles (I'm not sure exactly which ones so you'll have to do your own research), the factory installed radios control various other functions such as the chimes. In my 2004 Envoy, the radio also stays on after you turn off the truck until you open a door. This feature and the chimes are lost if you remove the factory radio without using the GMOS-01 adapter.
Just make sure it functions properly BEFORE you button everything up! I received a faulty unit the first time around and had to wait for a couple of days to get a new one. If your chimes don't work (the unit's default volume is loud enough) or if the radio stays on after you open your door, then it's a bad unit.
OH, and don't forget to buy an antenna adapter as well if you're installing into a newer GM! They use a mini antenna connection that you have to convert into the larger type that aftermarket radios use. Amazon sells the adapter for about ten bucks or so.

USA SPEC PA11-GM - iPod in-vehicle interface adapter Review

USA SPEC PA11-GM - iPod in-vehicle interface adapter

The adapter came with all the harnesses to connect to the factory deck in my 2005 Avalanche. Some of the clearences were a little tight but this had nothing to do with the unit. There was plenty of cable to locate the unit in the center console, out of harms way and out of site. I had to drill a hole to put the ipod connector in the center console armrest. The unit worked as advertised and was also upgraded to show Artist and Title when you push the DISP button. Unfortunately you have to push it for every song but I believe this is an issue with the Factory Head Unit not the PA11-GM. The instructions are a spotty but if you read them completely it is all there. I was able to connect the unit as XM1 and it works as described. XM2 is still available for XM radio if I wanted to throw my money away on that. The truck also has a DVD player in the back seat connected to the factory head unit, this still works also. As an added bonus the factory system supports selecting audio from the back seat. The PA11-GM/IPOD is available from the back seat as XM1 also. I created a couple of playlists and I can select them like giant CDs. If I am listening to the radio and the kids want to listen to the IPOD they can choose it separately from the back seat. If I had one complaint it would be not being able to see what song is playing without having to push the DISP button.

Soundgate GMPDAUX1 iPod Auxiliary Input for GM Vehicles 2003-2008 Review

Soundgate GMPDAUX1 iPod Auxiliary Input for GM Vehicles 2003-2008

I bought one of these a year ago and installed it myself in my 2004 Grand Prix. I am not a car-installation guy. WHenever I try to install things I feel like I'm trying to defuse a bomb. On a bus. Filled with kids. And the kids are all in wheelchairs. And I'm blindfolded.
However, with a little bit of help I was able to install this, and it sounded great!
Then, about 10 months into it, it stopped working. I'm pretty certain that I broke it, and I emailed tech support and told them so, and asked if I could order a new part. Within days they sent me a brand new one, free of charge.
Soundgate tech support person Toby, you rock my world. Thank you.
