I have a 1st generation Bose SoundDock that does not have any kind of auxiliary input so the only way to use the magnificent speakers was with an iOS device, which honestly is pretty inconvenient, considering the older SoundDocks don't charge your device while playing music. After looking at some methods online to basically soldier an aux in jack in by hand (which people claimed didn't give great audio quality), I started looking for another answer.Enter the dockBoss- an intelligent device that allows me to play my computer audio (or audio from any device with a headphone jack).
I was skeptical about buying this mostly because of the lack of reviews so hopefully this review will help anyone who is on the fence to take the leap! I got this, plugged it into the dock... the light blinked and then went solid. I plugged the headphone plug into the jack on my laptop and pure audio bliss.. no problems! The audio is instantaneous so it works great for streaming videos online as well as my iTunes music. If you have a SoundDock or other great set of speakers without an aux in jack, this purchase is a great alternative. The Bose computer speakers I wanted cost around $100 so I still saved quite a bit of cash.
The company who made this, is CableJive; they seem a bit like an underdog, which is kind of a shame as they seem to REALLY care about good quality audio and practical devices.The look and feel of this little device is great and appears to be constructed of high quality materials. I can't stress how good the sound quality is, too.. far surpassed my expectations.
I'll buy CableJive products when possible from now on!
